Sensitivity analysis of pinna morphology on head-related transfer functions simulated via a parametric pinna model

چکیده
The head-related transfer function (HRTF) defines the acoustic path from a source to two ears of listener in manner that is highly dependent on direction. This directional dependence arises individual morphology pinna, which results complex reflections and resonances. While this notion generally accepted, there has been little research importance different structural elements pinna HRTF. A parametric three-dimensional ear model was used investigate changes shape systematic with view determining important contributing morphological parameters can be for HRTF individualization. HRTFs were simulated using boundary element method. analysis comprised objective comparisons between diffuse field component. mean spectral distortion global evaluation similarity across all positions. perceptual localization determine correspondences cues parameters. reasonable match found modelled distortion. Modifications concha have an impact HRTF, as did those proximity triangular fossa. Furthermore, control relief at least more frequently cited side-facing parameters, highlighting limitations previous morphological/HRTF studies.

Modeling Head-Related Transfer Functions Based on Pinna Anthropometry
The use of Head-Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs) in creating 3D sounds is gaining wide acceptance in multimedia applications. This paper presents a new method of modeling HRTFs based on the shape and size of the outer ear. Using signal processing tools, such as Pronys signal modeling method, an appropriate set of time delays and a resonant frequency were used to approximate the measured Head...
متن کاملOn distance dependence of pinna spectral patterns in head-related transfer functions.
The aim of this letter is to address a little understood question in sound source localization: Can the distance of a near sound source affect our own perception of its elevation? The issue is studied by means of an objective analysis of a database of distance-dependent head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) of a KEMAR (Knowles Electronic Manikin for Acoustic Research) mannequin with different...
متن کاملFrequency Estimation of the First Pinna Notch in Head-related Transfer Functions with a Linear Anthropometric Model
The relation between anthropometric parameters and Head-Related Transfer Function (HRTF) features, especially those due to the pinna, are not fully understood yet. In this paper we apply signal processing techniques to extract the frequencies of the main pinna notches (known as N1, N2, and N3) in the frontal part of the median plane and build a model relating them to 13 different anthropometric...
متن کاملArteriovenous malformation related to the pinna.
Arteriovenous malformations are rare in the head and neck region and generally arise from intracranial vessels. We present two rare cases with spontaneous arteriovenous malformations related to the ear. The role of magnetic resonance imaging and colour Doppler sonography in the diagnosis and management of such cases is discussed along with a review of the literature.
